《万物均有裂痕》(There is a crack in everything),其名字来自莱昂纳德·科恩(Leonard Cohen)的一首歌里的歌词。 (There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in。)

Object, 2025

The artist employs the office tool "scanner" for artistic creation, offering a new perspective on the scanned object. In the series, the work Landing resembles a blade about to descend onto a guillotine. In reality, this sharp blade is the underside of the artist’s everyday MacBook, imprinted with assembly and design origin information—a subtle nod to the interdependent technological collaboration between two global powers. Today, this relationship hangs like a sword of Damocles over the global economy. An image of a window with a glitch-like effect is created by the artist opening the studio window and allowing the wind to slowly push it until it is closed. Ultimately, the process of closing the window is surprisingly captured by the scanner. A 1980s Coca-Cola glass bottle bearing bilingual text is flattened through scanning. The taillight of a Santana 2000 is also scanned, serving as one of the symbolic artifacts of China’s march toward globalization.

In Night Scene Outside the Window, a drone crouching behind an old 1970s-80s-style textured glass (Haitang Glass) window pane resembles a voyeuristic monster drowning in water. Shape Tool represents the wisdom of the Chinese laboring people – using materials to their utmost potential. A discarded saw from overseas is divided into various styles of knives and sold to potential future buyers. There Is a Crack in Everything takes its name from a lyric in a song by Leonard Cohen, "There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." While scanning the page containing the image of The Annunciation from a Da Vinci’s art book, the artist accidentally damaged it. Coincidentally, the newly added crack aligns with the angel's finger in the painting.

Regarding the work Woman with Pearls, the artist scans a stone paired with a pearl necklace. Notably, the stone comes from the river upstream of the artist’s hometown and weighs the same as the artist’s mother, while the pearls are from a necklace gifted by the artist’s father to the mother in their youth.
